Entryway South Wall:
The Receiver of Taxes

This mural portrays fair and unfair, just and unjust, efficiency and carelessness in the collection of taxes.

On the left end of this panel, we see a decent mother and her child.  Near her, representing honest work, is a man with a pitchfork, the provider of the produce and the livestock.  To the rear are people paying their taxes.

On the opposing end of this mural, we can see the tentacled greed of the octopus in the public till, one arm wrapped around the leg of a brazen woman splashing in jewels and money.  To the extreme right is a man weighed down with public debt, so much that we can see a figure completely upside down.
